Dear Listers, Powys List member Helen Whyte in Canada has drawn my attention to the following news item, which should be of interest to everyone: ------------------------- Scotland Online acquires FindMyPast.com Two major organizations in the UK have issued an announcement of an acquisition. Scotland Online has been known in genealogy circles for its 'ScotlandsPeople' service. 'FindMyPast.com' (formerly known as '1837online.com') has been a major online genealogy company in England. Now 'Scotland Online' has acquired 'FindMyPast.com' (see http://tinyurl.com/3bh9kn). The merger will see Scotland Online's current online genealogy service, ScotlandsPeople, working closely with Findmypast.com to create a dynamic family history resource to serve millions of family history enthusiasts worldwide.
