Hello Merv, Thanks for the information. I know the problems researching Davies in the area first hand, as my 5x great-grandparents, John Daviesand Elizabeth (nee DAVIES) married in Llangammarch Church in 1778 and I am struggling to go further back than this. Can you please contact me off List, as there is a lady in America who may be researching the same family and if you give me your e-mail address, I will put you in touch? Looking forward to hearing from you. Alison
I am also trying to to research Davis/Davies family. Mine starts in Wales with Thomas Davis born 1780-1871according to Herkimer County, NY 1855 census. Son, David D. 42 born Wales 1827-1883. Wife of David D. Mary (Roberts) Davis 28 born Wales 1827-1885. Thomas Davis son of David D. and first wife Ann Jones, age 14 born in Wales. Their first child Margaret was born in Steuben, NY 1826. They are all buried in Salisbury Center, NY cemetery. I have found a post card from a cousin, she was Kitty Davies Ellis. Her address was Avondale Green Lane Corwen, Meriomethshire, Wales. I also have a 1938 calendar. On the front of it is a picture of a railroad station with Penmaenmawr, Promenade written on the right hand corner. On the back of it is hand written Mr and Mrs D. W. Humphrey's, Bodnant Penmaeamaure. I will take any help I can get. Arlene Metzler Alison Skipper <alison@skippers.org.uk> wrote: Hello Merv, Thanks for the information. Arlene Metzler ================ Dear Arlene, As your interests seem to be focused on Corwen in the county of Merionethshire and Penamaenmawr in the county of Caernarfonshire, I think you would get more help by subscribing to the Clwyd and the WLS-Gwynedd mailing list. Both these lists cover Merionethshire, and the WLS-Gwynedd List also covers Caernarfonshire. Send your subscribe requests to: Clwyd-L-request@rootsweb.com and WLS-Gwynedd-L-request@rootsweb.com Replace the -L- with -D- if you want to receive your messages in digest format.
