Hi Lesley, The Hope's at Abergwesyn were listed on the LDS 1881 Census CD's I have, Rhys Hope was the Elder one I think. We are not sure if they were related to the Hope family in Newbridge that I have known since the 1932 days. There were also Hope's in Rhayader District and St Harmon. Which Police Insp do you need?? The was a retired London Met Police Supdt Evan Davies in the Powys FHS NW BRE 1861 Census booklet, aged 48, at Glancelle Village No 16, Llangamarch. Yrs, Dennis.
