Hi Neil, It seems that many larger MGY and other farms had quite small areas set aside for their workers to live on in a smaller dwelling, and as part-time farmers with another job, such as a roadman in 1901, etc. My MGY relatives were mostly like this in 1841, and three brothers went to the USA by 1848.
