    1. [POWYS] Rees EVANS
    2. David Jones
    3. My great grandfather Rees EVANS married Eliza Victoria DAVIES in the parish church of Glascwm on the 24/11/1860. Rees was of full age, living inBryan as a servant, his father was David EVANS. Eliza was nineteen, living in the Cottages as a servant, her father was John Davies. They both appear on the 1861 census,Rees as head aged 26 a labourer and Eliza his wife aged eighteen. Both born Glascwm. The 1871 census finds Eliza aged 29 living with William ROGERS & her children John EVANS aged 9 wifes son born Glascwm,Price EVANS aged 5 wifes son born Old Radnor, Arthur EVANS ROGERS son aged 3 born Walton and Lewis Rogers aged 1 born Glascwm. So what happened to Rees EVANS,he was alive arround March 1867 as his youngest son Arthur was born 14/12/1867. I can find no trace of a death in Radnorshire. In fact the only death i can find that fits the bill is of Rees EVANS who committed sucide at Tythegston Bridgend on the 17th May 1867, the inquest was held on the 22nd May 1867 by Howell Cuthbertson coroner at Bridgend, The Bridgend Chronical reported the inquest on the 24th May 1867 which stated that he was found hung to a tree near Cefn works & that he had left his house to go to his work at the slip near Tondu, which i believe is a coal mine, he was aged 37 & left a wife & 5 children. I have not found a marriage cert: for William & Eliza ROGERS & no trace of any other likly death cert fot Rees EVANS. So again what happened to Rees EVANS ???,CAN ANYONE HELP ?? Regards DI Jones
