I understand that some of my ancestors lived in and around the Berriew/Welshpool area. The surname is Higgins and the name James was a common given name. One, I understand ran a pub/coaching inn, the other was a farmer with a considerable holding. (This is, you understand family oral history, so I cannot be certain all the facts are 100% accurate). It is said that there is a family plot at St. Beunos Church in Berriew, where a not inconsiderable monument marks the site. We are probably thinking late 18th, early to mid 19th century and possibly later. Anybody who has any information about Higgins in the area, Irish immigrants who quite possibly initially worked on Lord Caernarfon's estates as gamekeepers. Thanks in advance. Regards Paul Higgins
