Hello, my thanks to Rhian re her suggestion that son& daughter in law,could mean children from a previous marriage. However,as the two Philpott " in laws" were aged 15 & 12,and the Pritchard children were 15,13,8 and 2,I think there has to be another reason. But thank you anyway Roy Davies

Hi Roy My guess would be that here you have a widow (Ann Philpott) married to a widower (David Pritchard) , and that each came into the marriage with two children already, and the youngest two are children of this marriage. Alternatively maybe just the 2 year old is from this marriage, in which case David had three children in his first marriage.
