    3. David: I am really sorry to hear that you have had these problems with Legacy. It is such a good program, and the man who runs it is very eager to help with any problems, that I had hoped you had contacted him and that he had been able to help you with your problem. We have several of us who live in Albuquerque, and we use Legacy and Windows 7 without a problem. Hope you get the help you want from another program. I for one have used Roots Magic several years ago, and found it very cumbersome and difficult to use. The learning curve was very high and I gave up on it. I have loved Legacy. Good luck in your quest. Thanks for your reply Irene. When first going into one of my Legacy database folders an error message appears saying the folder could not be opened when it had opened, and I could not get rid of the error message without exiting Legacy. A second error message would appear when I changed to another Legacy folder, including the “example” folder that comes with the installation. The error message also appeared when I tried to print any documents such as a family group sheet. The other problem was that my computer would hang-up and freeze on shut-down, and I would have to turn the computer off by switching it off at the plug which can lead to further problems. Several times I re-installed Legacy but the problem did not go away. Now I have completely uninstalled Legacy I do not have any hang-ups or freezing on shutdown. There is nothing wrong with my database folders because they all work perfectly on my laptop which uses Windows XP Professional. As I am going to have! my laptop upgraded I am of the opinion that it will be easier to for me to use software that is known to be fully compatible with Windows 7. Obviously not all Legacy users are experiencing problems but many of the blogs I have read show some Legacy users are having similar experiences after installing Windows 7. Thanks John for your advice and I will certainly have a look to see what Family Historian is like. .................................David =================== Visit the Powys Mailing List webpage at: www.jlb2005.plus.com/powyslist.htm ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
