    3. Hi Tim You could be right. It's ages since I did this research but from recollection I think that he was working in South Wales as a masseur, but migrated to the then fashionable spa town on Llandrinod Wells, and set up shop so to speak, offering accommodation for middle class folk who couldn't afford to stay in the big Victorian hotels - as well as promote his masseur business" at home" with the help of his wife and assistant ( later his second wife!). He carried on the latter massage business in Church Stretton until retirement - presume he moved when tourist trade collapsed in WW1 and aftermath. Must look up 1901 and 1911 censuses for Llandrinod - and be in touch with archives there about any new documents/books about the spa town - its development and decline Thanks for your interest Richard -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Timothy Davis Sent: 02 December 2010 8:52 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [POWYS] Greenwood and Davis families in Powys Richar and Pam Thank you for the follow-up. It is also possible that he added the "Steart" to distinguish himself from another Charles Davies in the area. "Charles Davies" is probably a common name combination.
