Hi Everyone I just joined the list recently, and wonder if anyone is researching families who'd lived in Aberyscir. I did a search of the Archives, and couldn't find any postings about it. My g-g-g-grandfather was Reverend David Jones (1775 - 1861) who was the rector of St Mary's (or St Cynidr's) there. The censuses say that he was born at Aberyscir. His father might have been Rev John Jones, who was the preceeding clergyman, & David's wife was Margaret Morgan from Egwysilan. Is anyone else researching this Jones family, or these Morgans? In an old family will, there are mentions of The Manor of Aberyscir, Maesyvaynor Farm and some further 6 farms in Brecon with indecipherable names (to me anyway!). Does anyone know anything of the history of these two properties in particular, or where I can find out? I know that Maesyvaynor was leased by my family (Davies) to Josiah Guest and that now there's a town there, but that's all. Thank you very much - I'm in Australia. Cheers Liz Parkinson
Hi Liz, Go to the National Library of Wales site and do a search for Aberyscir and then Maesyvaynor, a number of references come up including an old will, click on Image 1 to read then 2 etc. Site www.llgc.org.uk Go to Full Catalogue Ignore the Reader Number & password enter query in search box. Hope this helps, Regards Lloyd ----- Original Message ----- From: "Liz Parkinson" <[email protected]> To: "Powys List" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 1:25 PM Subject: [POWYS] Aberyscir query > Hi Everyone > > I just joined the list recently, and wonder if anyone is researching > families who'd lived in Aberyscir.
