Hello Patrick, I believe that we are researching the same Powells. William Powell, b1779, was my husband's 3x great-grandfather. Like you, I have nothing more about John's line, but I have researched Williams' line and would be pleased to exchanged information. Regarding Rees Powell, Rees was a blacksmith and I have a theory that he could have been the same Powell family as Howell Harris of Trefecca's mother. Howell's mother, Susannah Powell, was the sister of the local blacksmith. Howell was born in Talgarth in 1714, so there is a gap in the dates, which I have been trying to bridge, but I have not tracked down a good family tree for Howell as yet. I have contacted the Howell Harris Museum in Trefecca, but they could not help. There may be a tree at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Alison Skipper Malvern, Worcestershire -----Original Message----- Am trying to find Rees POWELL's ancestors. Rees POWELL m Ann XXXX. Children are:- John b 12/11/1775 William b 10/2/1779 in Talgarth, Brecon. Have nothing more on John nor any other children. William was living at "Drovers Arms" Llandegley, Radnorshire in 1841. Are there any Listers researching same? Would be pleased to hear from you.
Hi, Is there anyone who reads the Cronicl Powys issue 80 August 2010.who could put me in touch with Mr Geoffrey J Williams who is related to the Parry family of Brynmawr Breconshire. David Parry was a Wheelwright who in 1851 employed my gt Uncle Thomas Maddy as an apprentice wheelwright and who witnessed David Parry's Will. I would really like to have a word with Mr. Williams as I am tracing my family in that area and apparently David Parry's father lived in Llyswen, the same area as Thomas Maddy's grandfather. With best wishes Sue in Suffolk
