    3. Hi Joy and all Listers, Joy asked whether anyone could recommend a book about the life of hill farmers and farming practices in Mid Wales during the 18th and 19th centuries. I had a Christmas present which I think will answer most of her queries. Erwyd Howells: Good Men and True The Lives and tales of the Shepherds of Mid Wales Published by the Author in 2005 ISBN 0-9551736-0-4 http://gwales2.cllc.org.uk/goto/biblio/cy/9780955173608/ this link shows the Author's address, from where it can be purchased. It is also available form Amazon UK for 45 English pounds Erwyd Howells is a present day shepherd/farmer who has spent most of his life on the hills of north Breconshire, Radnorshire, Cardiganshire and south Montgomeryshire. He has spoken to the old characters of those areas and has kept notes of the oral traditions and lives of these families. A really good read! Hilary

    3. Gosh............£45 is a bit over the top. I wrote to him to get mine a couple of years ago. I can't remember how much it was but it certainly wasn't as much as that. In fact come to think of it, I rang him to order it. If at first you don't get through to him, keep trying as he his still a working farmer. Nice man to talk to as well. Happy New Year everyone! Ann.
