Time for breathing in the perfumed smells of nature in the lands our forefathers walked upon and quitting the computer and the desk for a period. We shall return. Addiction will see to that. Not for long may we leave our ancestral relatives unturned, but seek them out wherever they hide. =========== Dear Graham, Thank you for your thoughts. Seasonal variations are at least part of the reason for the low activity on the Powys List in September, but there has been a gradual decline in activity on most of RootsWeb's mailing lists over the past decade. I've set out below the number of messages distributed in the month of September on the Powys List for the past dozen years: 2000 - 1058 2001 - 248 2002 - 239 2003 - 136 2004 - 129 2005 - 155 2006 - 248 2007 - 129 2008 - 107 2009 - 79 2010 - 45 2011 - 83 2012 - 22 The amazing figure for 2000 was clearly exceptional, but disregarding this figure, the decline over the period shown is obvious. What puzzles me is that the number of subscribers to the list has remained remarkably constant over the same period. It has only fluctuated between 410 and 430. It's clear that fewer subscribers ask for help via the List, and fewer subscribers contribute their thoughts to the List except in answer to questions posed. Well............... Anyone out there with information about Joseph Jones, born about1822 in Pont Robert, Llanfairfechan, son of Evan Jones, and married Dianah Davies (born Llanfechin, daughter of Thomas Davies) in Meifod in 1843. By 1851 they were in Madeley, Shropshire.. Their daughter, Catherine, born in Madeley, probably 1849, was my Great-Grandmother. Have no access to Welsh records, as I live on the Sussex coast. I have asked before, but maybe someone might spot it this time.
