Hi Tudur, Clive and All, Try this link http://www.findmypast.co.uk/content/news/wales-june12 , which is the June newsletter. As well as links to the pdfs on this page, in the lower half of the page you will see a blue link for "Search the Welsh Parish Records Now" When you go into that link, you put in the person's details, but note that there are 3 tabs on that page, for separate baptism, marriage and burial searches. So you have to search each event individually. Hope this helps Hilary -----Original Message----- From: powys-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:powys-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of William Williams Sent: 27 June 2012 14:48 To: powys@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POWYS] Good News! - BRE, MGY and RAD parish records on FindMyPast website Hello everyone, I don't wish to appear stupid, but how - exactly - can I find the records ? I can't see a way of getting to them from the pdf files as posted. Can someone help an idiot, please ?? One thing I found was that you have to put the County and Parish spellings as seen in the Welsh Parish Coverage pdf on the Find my Past site http://www.findmypast.co.uk/content/welsh-collection/parish-registers . From here you can go into the separate pdf pages to show the Parishes coverage for Baptisms, Marriages and Burials. and see how the Parish names are spelt as well as seeing the dates covered. So, for example, in Brecknockshire (not Breconshire), Crickadarn is spelt as Crucadarn. Crickadarn spelling brought up nothing for me, but Crucadarn had the full coverage for my surname of interest You may well have worked this out already, but just in case....... As regards your ancestor, remember that Brecon was divided into 3 Parishes, Brecon, St David, Brecon St John (and Brecon St John the Evangelist) and Brecon, St Mary. All the best, Hilary -----Original Message----- From: powys-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:powys-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Clive Gardener Sent: 27 June 2012 12:40 To: powys@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POWYS] Good News! - BRE, MGY and RAD parish records on FindMyPast website Hi John I was pleased to hear, until . . . The thought occurred to me to test the findmypast search facility, by checking the baptism for Henry Thomas Payne at Llangattock, Brecknockshire, on 30th November 1760. However, I have received the message that there are NO results! Another entry that I understand is present in the Llangattock parish records (from past correspondence via the POWYS list) is the burial of Edward Kendall at Llangattock in March 1807 - but, again, no results . . . ! I'm also interested in the burial of William Williams, who died at Brecon on 27th April 1812, but there also doesn't seem to be a record for him, either. On first trial it would appear that the coverage is not quite so wide or so accurate as claimed . . . ? Looks like I'll have to make the anticipated journey to the Powys County Archives Office after all!
