    3. Sorry, getting my 'OS's and 'SO's mixed up. The map reference for Hirfron Farm should be SO 957773. The 25K OS maps are available on the Streetmap website: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ Search for 'St Harmon' then pan north west up the valley of Nant Tawelan, through the pass at Cwmyrychen and across Afon Dulas. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Matthews To: powys@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2012 8:27 AM Subject: Re: [POWYS] Llewynoyadd Farm, Radnorshire Hi Patricia, Hirfron Farm is shown on modern 25K OS maps. It lies about three miles north-west of St Harmon at map reference OS 957773. The buildings are shown on the 50K OS map about 100 metres east of Cefn Llech, but the farm isn't named. The road that passes through Cefn Llech has been Google Sreetviewed, so if you position yourself just to the east of Cefn Llech on Google Maps and go into streetview, you can see the roof of Hirfron through a gap in the trees. On the 'Old Maps' website, if you put in co-ordinates 295700 and 277300 and select the 1889 1:2500 map of Radnorshire, you will get a good detailed plan of the farm. You will need to increase your browser magnification to at least 200% to see it, though, as the site is pretty useless without the enhanced zoom feature that it used to have. The ancestral home of my Meredith family was just across the valley at Cwmyrychen. 2. Hi Patricia I am a descendant of John and Ann Mills and their daughter Sarah Mills. I am busy today and tomorrow morning but if you can bear with me I may be able to help you. My dear friend Margaret Harvey (RIP) descended from their son Hugh and Sarah I have a photograph of them ~ how are you connected please? Best wishes Shirley In a message dated 07/07/2012 22:35:19 GMT Daylight Time, gfpryc@aol.com writes: John and Ann Mills lived at a farm called Plentiful Gates, Upper Fordlace, Llananno from before 1861 until towards 1891, when their son Hugh Mills took over. Hugh and his wife Sarah were still there in 1916. However, I cannot locate its exact position. The 1881 census lists the farms in the area: Hugh is living at Upper Nanthir and his father John at Plentiful Gates. They are listed next to one another. Was it at Upper Nanthir? I have maps of the area including old ones. Fford-Las, Nanthir and Upper Nanthir are there but no Plentiful Gates. It can't simply have disappeared, or can it? I know that many buildings were demolished in the middle years of the C20. I have visited the area but could not locate it. Please can anyone help? Patricia Pryce

    3. Hi, The spelling you have is misleading. Llwynneuadd is the current spelling on the OS maps, which makes much more sense of the Welsh name. On the OS maps it is located SO 073 698 Or from Crossgates follow the A483 north, after 1 mile take a left turn near New Lodge farm, continue north for a further 2 miles and there are two farms Llwynneuadd and Cwmfaerdy just off the road on either side. 2. Thank you. The spelling is as census tellers wrote it through C19 and into C20, mainly. The family of my husband's great grandmother, the Prices, lived there from 1841 to 1911. Can you tell me anything about its more recent history, such as how long the Prices lived there? 1. [POWYS] re FMP Deaths & Births
    2. Watson Family
    3. Hi, I have a problem in that I have family in Australia who says their mother was Sarah Llewelyn and their father Thomas Davies shoemaker. This is on one marriage cert and two death certificates from Victoria Australia. These are very detailed death and marriage certs When my Elizabeth Thomas dau of Thomas Davies immigrated to Australia she had her mother down as Mary. They are all brother and sisters not doubt of that. I have just been looking at FMP at the Welsh records ( yes I finally learned how to do it. Helps if you go to the right web site instead of Ancestry:-) I I think I have found a birth/baptism that corresponds with what one of the daus Ann Williams nee Davies said where she was born on the 1851 census. I did find a birth of Anne Davies at Aberedow Radnorshire 11th Jan 1818 with parents Thomas Davies shoemaker and wife Mary Now I am in a dilemma. Is this birth correct or does what all the rest of the same family make it Sarah Llewelyn correct. Any suggestions welcome. It appears that my relation Elizabeth davies born 1823 at Blaina Monmouthshire was not recorded and nor any other siblings were likewise baptised Many thanks Cheers Marilyn from Western Australia

If you go to http://ninite.com/ you should be able to download free Adobe Flash Player - listed under Runtimes (and a few other great programmes). I think that should work for you. 3. 3. I certainly hope so. There are many missing from Llandinam in Montgomeryshire. I've been searching for my GG Grandfather's baptism in 1806/8 for nearly 10 years now. Have got his marriage, death and census reports but it appears that some registers are a bit lacking due to someone setting fire to them!!
