    3. Dear list, My first posting of a request. I have Maria Price Connell born in Hay in 1811, her father being Joseph Price Connell (although I think I have him referred to as Joseph Connell, alias Joseph Price, in a crime and punishment register listed in the National Library of Wales). I cannot find any record of Maria's baptism although I can come across a couple of male Price Connell in the Family Search LDS records. Has anyone any information on this family? Derrick Parsons (from a rather wet Cornwall).

Ann. 15:42 Subject: [POWYS] Message from Admin: News of a new Family History Website Dear Listers, Like the Administrators of many RootsWeb mailing lists, I have been sent details of a new family history website together with a request to draw it to the  attention of List members. The website, at www.onlinefamilynetwork.org, was launched on 22 November. Its homepage gives an outline of the purpose of the site. By all means explore the website for yourselves, but please note that it appears to focus heavily on US genealogy. None of its 'Resources' relate to Wales, to Britain, or even to Europe. As with all such website, please think hard and long before uploading any of your GEDCOM files onto the website. If you do decide to upload a GEDCOM file, make sure you do not include any data on living persons. When I explored the site this morning, I failed to find any 'Terms and Conditions' or details of the ownership of the site. Personally, I do not think that in it present state, the website has anything to offer those of us researching Welsh ancestry. 3. Thanks to all who responded to my 13 Nov request for suggestions on how to prepare a single descendant chart which starts with two different sets of ancestors. I've looked into Legacy as recommended and while I like the look of the chart it doesn't do what I want (and I've not found any program that will do so). I may be doing something incorrectly but I could only get it to print four generations. The long and short of it is that I will have two charts printed by a genealogical printer and sent to the families and they can put them together as they wish. The knowledge on this list is wonderful and I get so many tips on how to improve my research. Problem is I could spend 24/7 on the computer just reading and following up leads. Merry Christmas to all and a very happy 2013!! Carrol Drew Canada

    3. Yes, John, many thanks are due to Mary. I have already taken advantage of her "index." For listers without access to ancestry, I found the book on google books. The electronic version is free and you can download a free pdf version as well. The only thing I don't know is if it's the same edition, as it says "in two volumes." But so far the pages I've accessed have tracked to Mary's list. 3. I have found an 18th century ancestor of mine whose name was John Wigley. He was a land surveyor in Pembrokeshire but I have found no trace of him before the mid 1700s, he was probably born in 1749. I believe there was a family with this surname living in Llanbrynmair and I wonder if anyone on the list might know of any possible connection between that family and my ancestor. Margaret

    3. Hello David, Thank you for that insight into rural life near industrial activity. Could  the document be the handover notes of a  retiring collector of savings and in some cases also rents - a briefing for his successor? Regards Mary ________________________________ From: David Hopkins <david@semlabs.co.uk> To: Powys@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, 3 December 2012, 18:24 Subject: [POWYS] Shropshire-Montgomeryshire Private Census Evening List, A fellow researcher recently acquired a document, a private census that contains detail that is usually not recorded - particularly for labourers. The census covers parts of Alberbury parish in both Montgomeryshire and Shropshire. He has kindly sent me images of the census, which I have made available here: http://forebears.co.uk/news/fascinating-shropshire-montgomeryshire-border-private-census Would be interested to hear if these are relevant to anyone. Even without a personal connection it still makes fascinating reading. I'm having problems deciphering some of the information. Does anyone have any idea what 'carden no land' '1/w mouth C.C.' means?
