    1. [POWYS] names
    2. Little Warren Farm
    3. Dear list, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the naming pattern. Would you expect the first son born to a couple to be the name of the father's father. Then the name of the first daughter born to be the name of the mother's mother etc. Richard Jenkins married Ann Moss at Bedwelty in 1800. The first son born 1801 was called George therefore can I safely assume that the father of Richard Jenkins was called George Jenkins? thank you Diana

    3. Andrew, Did any of the family migrate to the US, specifically New York State? My names match yours but the homestead that I have is Penarth Farm, Llanfair Caerinion. My family is as follows: David Price B. abt 1874 (Immigrated to Us ( Marshall Township, Oneida County, New York) in 1838, June 12 along with Thomas Price and family. Apparently at that time he was a widower) He was the Uncle to my ancestor Thomas Price. Believe he may have had at least two sons, David ( b.abt 1819) and Owen (b abt. 1812). I have not found his Wales information. I also do not have a date of death, place of death or burial site for this David. Thomas Price was the nephew to David. b. abt 1805 and married an Elizateth( b. abt 1810) in 1836. They had several children. If this ties in with your information, I have more on Thomas, but not more on David. 1. [POWYS] Rebecca EVANS/MASON born Maesmynis 1849
    2. Martin Briscoe
    3. In 1851 and 1861 my G^3 Grandparents (Thomas & Margaret EVENS) were in Maesmynis and had a Granddaughter living with them, she was Rebecca EVANS/MASON born ABT 1849 Maesmynis. There is a Rebecca MASON birth in Q1 1849 Builth so I think I am going to have to get the Birth Certificate but try here first as not a very common name in that area. Rebecca is shown as Rebecca EVANS in 1851 so perhaps she was illegitimate and her mother married later. In 1861 she is shown as Rebecca MASON. I presume that one of Thomas's daughter married a Mason but don't know which and probably don't have any record of her. Probably significantly there is a William & Jane MASON next to them in the census in 1861. Jane is shown as born "Allthrangg" in 1831 so she is about the right age - any suggestions where Allthrangg might be (presumably the name has been mangled). I would have expected her to be born Maesmynis is she was one of Thomas's daughters. Martin Briscoe Fort William M&LFHS | Gwynedd FHS

    3. It is supposed to find Banns but when I checked my G... Grandparents' marriage I only saw the marriage. It was handy because it had his occupation which I had noticed when I saw the film and also they had corrected the date which was wrong on the original - Banns were 1826 but marriage 1825. Could really do with the period before those dates. 3. Hi Anita, No apparent match for Rees Prosser and Mary (1815 +/- 10), although there was a John Prosser and a Mary Price married at Llangorse 9th July 1816. As you would expect there were several possible results for David Jones and Mary, but only 1 was associated with one of the placenames that you mentioned: David Jones & Mary Morris 24th July 1828, Talgarth Rina Ref: ancestry.com http://www.a-glamorgan-family.com/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "ANITA MCKINNEY" <newtonmac@msn.com> To: <powys@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 9:46 PM Subject: Re: [POWYS] Ancestry - Breconshire, Wales Marriages, 1813-1837 > Would anyone be willing to look up 2 sets of couples on this database for > me? 3. My 3xG/Grandfather was David Price, He was born about 1785 in Llangamarch and lived and died at Gwebedog, Tirabad. He's buried in the Gelynos cemetery just outside Llanwrtyd Wells. Very little else is known of his origins other than the fact that his appearances on the census returns describe him as a mason. He was "chapel" and no other records have been found. He was married on 27th December 1816 in Llangamarch. The BT's give his residence at the time as "Tir Garw". His gravestone in Gelynos is photographed here: http://www.mypicshare.com/hyhquarxpic.html The adjoining grave is for David & Sarah Price: http://www.mypicshare.com/7u6sfsbtpic.html The two stones are separate from all the others and do appear to be "paired" together. The conclusion that I'm keen to make is that they are father and son. The rest of the cemetery is peppered with Price's. I've reconstructed many of the families: http://www.mypicshare.com/nlrcli4dpic.html There is a William Price who is buried here who I have traced on the 1841, 1851, 1861 & 1871 censuses. In the first two censuses his residence is Ty Newdd, Llangamarch & in the second two Ty Garw. He also has three sons, David, James & William who in turn on the census's are described as masons. So, I have the place name Tir Garw that re-occurs, the profession of mason and the two gravestones next to each other. This is tantalisingly close to demonstrating that the two Davids are father & son but not conclusive. Can anyone suggest anything? Andrew Andrew Price www.pricetree.net

    3. Hi, You may remember that I posted a query some time ago about my GG Grandfather Richard Monnington. It would appear that his mother was a Mary Mumford. A friend discovered this baptism entry 17 Oct 1819 'baptised Richard Monington bastard son of Richard Monington, Labourer and Mary Mumford Norton Village'. I do know from my GG Grandfathers army records & marriage cert that his father was listed as Richard Monnington, Labourer and that his mother was called Mary. I also know he was born in Norton, Radnorshire. If anyone can help me with Mary Mumford I'd be really grateful :-) Hugs, Lucinda xx This e-mail and any attachments hereto are:- 1.
