Hi You can easily check this website www.cwgc.org yourself which lists the WW1 dead. I have done so - but it doesn't show anyone from Salford UK with this information. Suggest you check your information again. What does XIV mean - is it part of a regimental name? and what does View mean!? Hi, I'm still looking for clues as to who my ggggandfather was. I know he was a David Williams who married Margaret Probert (c19/10/1776) in Llanspyddid on the 31/12/1797. I can find refs. to him where he is described as coming from "a well known Brecon family" the cousin of Jane Williams' father of Aberpergwm. Much searching on my part has failed to find this particular Williams family. Last Saturday I visited the Brecon FH Fair and thought I had cracked it, but no. Can anyone help? This Margaret Probert was the aughter of John Probert of Cwrt Gilbert and Margaret Jones of Bolgoed, who married in Llanspyddid on the 19/10/1775. Anything would be a great help. Pob Hwyl. Tom.
Hello All I would greatly appreciate any help in discovering the parents of Thomas HAVARD b abt. 1804 at Glascwm Radnorshire. Dear Listers, Does anyone know if there is any means to access the Michaelchurch-on-Arrow PRs, or transcriptions of them, other than by visiting the Powys or Hereford Record Offices? I have recently determined that my GGG grandfather, James Watkins, was born in Michaelchurch in 1797/8. In 1841 there was a James Watkins living in Michaelchurch, then married to Elizabeth, who was of a suitable age for my James to be his eldest son. Also living with James and Elizabeth was Ann Watkins, widow, possibly James's sister-in-law. It's also possible that my James could be her son (only just - she would have been about 18 when he was born). If anyone knows anything beyond what is in the 1841 and 1851 censuses of James and Elizabeth or Ann and her deceased husband, in particular whether either couple had a son James in 1797/8, I'd very much appreciate advice of it. Back in 2004 Tim Watkin Jones posted an interest in James, Elizabeth and Ann to the list, but I haven't been able to find a current address for Tim. If anyone is in contact with Tim, please advise him of my new found shared interest in them. Tim's posting mentioned that James or Ann had a son Robert born in 1803, which could be significant as my James named his third son Robert in 1840. Best regards and many thanks for any help anyone can provide. Dave Matthews Corlette, Australia

An exploration of a rare circular cattle byre near the village of Abercrâf in the county of Breconshire (ten pictures). This feature was first shown on 'Images of Wales' in October 2002. 2. Three views of the Upper Swansea Valley, taken from above the village of Ystradgynlais. The views include the counties of both Breconshire and Glamorgan (three pictures). I am pleased to announce that baptism, marriage and burial parish registers of two more Montgomeryshire parishes [Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain and Meifod] have been added to the familyhistoryonline site. This takes the number of parishes online to 22, with more to follow when I have time to finish processing them! You will find the names of the parishes and years covered at: http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/database/MontgomeryGSprs.shtml These records are produced as part of the project of the Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society to transcribe and publish the county's parish records. Hello. When I was on holiday recently on Anglesey researching my Llanfair Yn Howyn ancestors I was lucky to find a marriage entry in the Llangefni Record Office for my ancestor, in the Index to Anglesey Marriages compiled by Mr Mrs Hind. The Llanfair Yn Howyn parish registers start in 1813 and I was looking for a marriage earlier than that so I was surprised to find my 1801 marriage in the Anglesey Index. On enquiry it turns out that the entry is gleaned from the Bishops Transcripts but they are held at The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. They begin in 1754 for Llanfair Yn Howyn. Now that I am back in Manchester I am desperate to get my hands on that full marriage entry! If there is a kind soul on the list going to the Library sometime would they have a moment to have a look at the Llanfair Yn Howyn, Anglesey BT's for me? The entry is John Owen and Elizabeth Williams November 20th 1801.I am particularly interested in where John came from. My grateful thanks if someone is able to do that for me. Best wishesDot Hughes _________________________________________________________________ Feel like a local wherever you go with BackOfMyHand.com http://www.backofmyhand.com

I am looking for ancestors of William Stephenson Roberts was born at LLANDUDNO, North Wales on 4 Aug 1859, He was the son of William Roberts. William then aged 9 and Thomas his younger brother then aged 7 who were orphaned before they started school , entered Cowley Cottage ( later to become Salesian House) a Catholic School for boys at Cowley near Oxford. 4 or 5 years after attending Cowley William attended a French school at Chester which was apparently 17 miles from Liverpool. He later served an apprenticeship in Civil Engineering at White Haven, said to be a seaport of Cumberland. The brothers sailed from Liverpool on the ‘Lammermoor’ on 10 Mar 1879 and arrived at Melbourne Australia on 10 Jun 1879.. Unfortunately the passenger list of the vessel has not yet been transcribed , nor is there a record of the ship being in Australian waters at the time, or having arrived at Melbourne in Jun 1879. Any help that listers can provide would be greatly appreciated , and if this list is not the one I should post to – would someone please point me in the right direction.
