    3. HI to all Listers I don't think the last e.mail went through - but if it did please accept my apologies. I am seeking Robert HUGHES who would have been born in Llanfillyn Montgomeryshire c1880. The only information I have for this man is he was married to Mary Ann Boulton (who may not come from Wales) and their first child was born 1803. I guess when I look at that I shall be very lucky to find any information about him but you can always hope! I shall certanly be glad of any information available Many thanks Shirley Gray

    3. Hello! I found a marriage for a Maggie Jones - could this be Margaret - to a Samuel Sharples. 1903 Sep. Qtr Prestwich, Lancashire. 8d 737. Then I found a birth for Lydia D. Sharples. 1911 Dec. Qtr Salford, Lancashire 8d 49. Mother's maiden name: Jones. How rewarding would the above marriage certificate be? 3. Hello Rina, I only have my grandfather's memory to rely on as far as the boy's name was concerned. He was said to be "an ensign/midshipman" and died when his ship was torpedoed. His age is a worry! My grandfather came to Australia in 1911 and my father and his step-mother in 1913. I have no idea who supplied the family news. Thank you for your help. I'll keep looking. 3. Pursuant to a Decree of the High court of Chancery, made in a Cause "Church against Frowd" the CREDITORS of DAVID WILLIAMS, late of Lanblethian, in the county of Glamorgan, Gent, deceased (who died in the month of January, 1828), are forthwith to come in and prove heir Debts before James William FARRER Esq. one of the Masters of the said Court, at his chambers, in Southhampton-buildings, Chancery-lane, London, or in default thereof they will be excluded the benefit of the said Decree. March 10th, 1828. Thursday se'nnight a canal boat belonging to Mr. MILTON, of Pershore, was being navigated down the Avon, heavily laden with coals, when, on approaching the weir near the town, the strength of the current was such that she became unmanageable, began to fill, and got into the middle of the stream. Rd. CARE, the captain of the boat, seeing the danger, with great presence of mind hastened to his wife, who was at the bow of the vessel, thrust her overboard into shallow water, and she reached the bank in safety. He then went to his daughter, about 15 years of age, who was in the cabin, but before he could get her out, the water rushed in upon them, and the boat went down, and engulfed both. We are happy to observe that our highly respectable Magistrates, who have for so many years devoted their time and attention to the arduous duties of this district, resumed their seats on the Bench on Tuesday last. - Cheltenham Chronicle. 3. AN APPEAL TO THE BENEVOLENT In 1825, died the Rev. JAMES THOMAS, of Hill Grove, in the hamlet of Clythia, near Abergavenny. For the last few years he had some small preferment; but the whole of the property which he left was a Leasehold on two lives, of £8 per annum, and the Stock of a rented Farm of 28 acres. On the 5th of February inst. Mrs. THOMAS died; she was evidently worn down by anxiety, and by varied and continued exertions. There are ten children: one boy was placed in Christ’s Hospital about four years ago by Mr. Alderman THOMPSON; one girl has been placed at Cowen-Bridge School, by Capt. WITHERING, but for her, probably, £1 1/2 a-year must be paid. The rest of the children are unprovided for. 3. On Tuesday se'nnight as Mr. STOKES, of Pauntley Court, Gloucestershire, was on his way from his house to Pershore, within a mile and a half of the latter place (near Tiddesley Wood), his gig came in violent contact with another coming from Pershore, in which was Mr. FLETCHER, of Hill Croome. Both gentlemen were immediately thrown out, and Mr. STOKES, pitching upon his head, death was immediately ensued! Mr. FLETCHER was severely bruised but managed to get to a neighbouring turnpike-house. Medical aid was procured with all possible dispatch; and Mr. FLETCHER was conveyed to Pershore, where he now lies in a doubtful state. At the inquest, it appeared that Mr. STOKES was on his return from Bredon's Norton to Worcester, when shortly after leaving the former place the horse became refractory, and backing into a ditch, broke the bar of the gig. The circumstance and the lateness of the hour had determined Mr. STOKES to remain daring tho night at Ecklington; but unfortunately, on reaching that village, the want of accommodation at the only public-house in the place compelled him to proceed, having first tied the bar together with a strong cord. The horse, at starting, again showed viciousness, and there is little doubt that he soon became uncontrollable and ran away, the dreadful result of which is above stated. Mr. STOKES was in his 52d year, and a wife and eight children, together with a wide circle of highly respectable relatives and connexions, are left to deplore his untimely end. 3. A burglarious entrance was effected into Iscoed House, Carmarthenshire (the seat of Rev. Edw. PICTON0, on the night of Thursday se’nnight; but happily the family were awakened, and the robbers foiled in their expectations of a booty. A reward of £50 is offered for the discovery of the offenders; and we sincerely hope it may produce the desired effect of bringing the villains to justice. The Pembrokeshire Fox Hounds meet on Monday next at Canaston Bridge, and on Tuesday at Wolfsdale. The Hannah, which arrived in Plymouth on Monday, picked up off the Land’s End the stern, some sails, rigging, and spars of a vessel which proves to have been part of the Spring, belonging to Truro, MOFFET, master, which has been missing since the late gales. The Arcadia, FOSTER, from Bristol, bound to New York, is put into Milford, leaky. The Mary, MORGAN, from Cork to Bristol, with a great number of pigs on board, struck on the Molt Stones, off Ilfracombe, on Sunday evening last, in thick fog, and almost immediately sunk. Crew saved. On the same evening, a brig, from Bordeaux for Bristol, with brandy, ran ashore near Clevedon, but has been got off without damage. The Emerald, DAVIS, from Redwharf to Barmouth, sunk in going to Beaumaris, on Sunday evening. At a meeting of the Merchants, Manufacturers, and Traders of Bristol, held on Tuesday last, at the Guildhall, it was resolved to petition parliament for the repeal of the Receipt Stamp Duty, on the ground of its unequal and vexatious operation. Several of the parishes in Bristol have resolved upon petitioning Parliament against the Catholic Claims. In the night of Saturday se’nnight, eleven fat sheep were stolen from a farm at Trelleck, Monmouthshire. The sheep were subsequently over Bigswear Bridge, through the Forest, to Birch Hill Wood, near Park End Work, Gloucestershire, where four were found killed and dressed, and the remainder with their legs tied, ready for slaughter. Some bread, butchers’ clothes, and two whet stones were also found on the spot, but the operators were not to be met with. Lyn Nunn Brisbane Australia
