To know if there is a possible connection we would need to know the Haplogroug of his Powell ancestor.  I am assuming that his paternal line is Cheek.  If this is correct neither his Haplogroup nor his Haplotype would have any meaning to men with a Powell paternal line.   If you are related to Robert Powell from Culpeper, and Sarah Taylor his information could be helpful.
