It would be hard for me to give an actual estimate of cost as it would depend on how you like to travel, deluxe or economy. We chose economy last time we went there. We stayed at a lot of Travellodges which are extremely inexpensive if you pay ahead. Check out their website to get an idea of cost per day for lodging. We found food prices not as high as in England and eating in pubs in the UK can be very inexpensive and surprisingly good. Your airfare will depend on where you live and how far ahead you book. You can fly into Heathrow or Gatwick and pick up a rental car. The car is probably the most expensive part of the trip. Book ahead and keep checking back to see if any lower price specials are available. I see many people travel by train and seem to enjoy it. I can't imagine being there without a car, you just have to learn to drive on the WRONG side of the road.j It is an experience of a lifetime and well worth the expense. All of the UK is a special experience, Wales, England and Scotland. I recommend going when the weather can be warmer (although not guaranteed any time of year) starting in May. One of our best weather weeks was the last week in April. Sites that you would want to visit generally open after Easter and many are closed during the winter months. Be sure to check them out before you go. I looked at the Powells Cottages and they seem very reasonable if you are going with another couple. There are other B&B options in Wales also within budget. It is usually better to just stay a few days in one place to get better coverage of the area. I hope you decide to take the plunge and go. You can write me off the list if you have questions.
