    3. Deborah,     My great great grandfather was John Powell who lived in Rutherford county, NC (not Tennessee).  He was born in 1808 in York, SC (which is just across the NC state line).  He married Elizabeth Horn, daughter of Hamilton Horsup Horn.  The last Tryon County bulletin listed an article about John (said he was John S. Powell married to Elizabeth Horn and worked on the Freeman land as a sharecropper).   I don't guess you found anything related to this line?   They apparently had something to do with the Powell's line in Fairfield Co SC (just south of York Co) because of the McKee/Sizemore connection with our "T" haplogroup managed by Jim Barrett.  We all are extremely closely matched DNA wise..    Also, Danny Lee Powell who lives on the old Powell farm in what is now Cleveland Co NC) part of the old Rutherford Co NC is a part of this "T" haplogroup and extremely closely matched DNA wise.  Anyone out there with any clues to this group?????   They apparently lived along Cain Creek near the Broad River and on the Freeman land. There is an article in the Tryon bulletin mentioning a road crew living close by where Danny now lives that listed a James, Jr, James, Sr, and Horn, so we know we are in the correct area of the state.   I would love to hear from anyone who might have something to help us along.  My problem is finding out WHO John's father was......we suspect it might have been James Powell, Jr,  (great great grandfather of Danny Lee)  who married Anna White and they just discovered a cemetery where this James might be buried.  We also might be connected with the Powell's who were in Lauren's SC which is just south of this area.    And also, HOW do I get onto this site to view the pics??   Help me Jim or anyone else who might know how to do it..  Thanks to everyone and keep working... we will someday find out all this jumbled mess!          Sincerely,   Lee Powell   kit #107720    FtDNA Powell website managed by Jim Barrett ________________________________ From: Deborah Powell <debbie.j.powell@gmail.com> To: powell-dna <powell-dna@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 6, 2013 11:35 AM Subject: [POWELL-DNA] Fwd: Powell Documents from the NC State Archives I finished reordering the photos and adding captions to the first page  of each document.  You should now be able to view them in order and  enlarge to read.  Please let me know if you see any that still need  tweaking.
