    3. The Georgia Will of 1805 helps with our DNA tie to Adkins Powell, but be aware that that may not be the Charles Powell we are looking for in Chatham 1800; there is a Charles Powell in 1810 Chatham who could fit the one in 1800 and still be alive. There is also in 1810 Chatham another listing for Charles Powell, but this is a Widow--could this be wife and children of Charles of the will who moved back to Chatham? There is a possibility there were two Charles Powells in 1800 Chatham census, but have found only one so far. Got it figured out- Adkins,Enoch and JOICE Powell Found this today in my old notes: 1805 Georgia Clarke County, will dated 1805; Charles Powell, formerly of NC Chatham, mentions wife Charlotte; debts due him by Obediah Powell and James Powell of NC and three children: Joyce Powell, Attkins Powell and Enos Powell when of age. This would be Adkins Powell DNA kit #232467 NC-39 --His father Charles Powell, who may be the one in Chatham 1800 census with 2 males 0-10, 1 male 16-25, 1 female 0-10, 1 female 16-25, 1 female 26-44. This fits the three children listed in the 1805 will, who would inherit when of age. It also looks like when combining the above with Deanna's research below that Charles Powell's daughter Joyce married William Brewer jr and she is getting her inheritance in 1815(if born 1794 would be age 21 in 1815). This split involving land of Charles in Chatham, instead of Georgia...? This Charles connected in Chatham some way to Obediah Powell and a James Powell. Obediah Powell born in 1780's and married Mary Herndon 4 Jul 1805 in Chatham NC or Orange Co NC; she daughter of Pomfert Herndon and Mary Bryant. Children: John, Waller, Louise.. Got it figured out- Adkins,Enoch and JOICE Powell Have made a good discovery. Sorry I went on such a red herring- reupped at Ancestry when they gave a good deal for six months. On reading the document of property split of Charles Powell, deceased, 1815 - it is not "William Brewer Jr, gone his wife" -- It is "William Brewer Jr, *ampersand* Joice his wife. Better yet- there is a tree "the Walker tree" on ancestry.com by SueBoop that lists a Joice Powell, born 18 January 1794 NC, died July 1870, Van Buren County, Arkansas (mortality schedule record). Joice had one son (as listed by SueBoop)-- named ENOCH. born TENNESSEE 1819. SueBoop goes on to record William Brewer's ancestry. His daddy, Jonas Brewer died in ROBERTSON COUNTY, TN in 1853. And Jonas' daddy? George Brewer, died 1807 CHATHAM COUNTY, NC, 1807. an 1850 census shows Wm and Joyce living in Giles, Van Buren County, TN. They have one daughter living at home, Anpalet E Brewer, born in KY 1834. Sorry for the all caps, but I'm doing the dance of the happy pants- uh huh, uh huh! ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
