There is a lot of incorrect information on the Francis Powells of Elbert and Wilkes Counties. It is very simple: Francis Powell of Elbert was born in Orange, Co., VA AND HE NEVER LIVED IN WILKES COUNTY, GA. Francis Powell of Wilkes was born in Albemarle (later Amherst) Co., VA. He NEVER LIVED IN ELBERT COUNTY, GA. Francis Wilkes is my gggg-gf and all of my research is original, based on actual documents, not on the guesses of Mrs. Hiden, or Rev. Lucas.
