Barb, Thanks for the response! Boy is this stuff interesting and exciting! I taught science for 34 years and thought I understood genetics, but this DNA stuff is really something. I visited with a fellow "T" groupie of mine (April Powell) who is an almost perfect DNA match to me, and she is a direct descendant of Honorias Powell, the son of Thomas/Mary Place Powell. In checking the line you suggested, I see that the line goes: Thomas d1658 Wales to Thomas/Mary Place 1634, to Thomas Jr, to Richard, and then to Wiatt and so on. I suspect I am from this Richard, or his brother John/Elizabeth, but still have not proven anything yet. I don't understand how I can be a "T", related to April, etc and an exact match, and then be tied to these Wales people. In comparing my 37 markers to theirs, I only match 10 of the 37. Their haplogroup is way down the table from mine.... Can you shed any light on this?? The only thing I know for sure is my line runs upward from James Paxton (b 1838 NC) to his father John (b1808 NC). There the line gets really fuzzy. All my family thinks John (1808)'s father might have been a Ransom Powell, but nobody has any proof. I have spent 14 years trying to solve this mystery! I would dearly love to find out who my John's father was... If you, or anyone can help, please contact me. I did this DNA thing hoping to solve this riddle!!
