    3. Hi, As I mentioned, my grandfather's were extremely secretive. There are far and few between death and birth certificates for my family. The evidence I do have was my grandfather's last oral history. He recorded for the family, our ancestory. In it he describes our families persecution and attempted extermination by the government. He also said that we were descendents of Osceola. He would be my great-great-great-great-great grandfather. I have no records or actual written documentation. My family has been trying to ascertain how much recording there was. My great grandfather lived in OK, and was supposed to live on the reservation. However, he chose to take his family (as his father's people before him) and live in the mountains. Sooo, like I said, there is very few documentation. Sorry, I couldn't be a further help. 3. If you are interested in information on Osceola's ancestry, you may want to read Osceola's Legacy by Patricia R. Wickman. She is a Florida historian and former Senior Curator for the State of Florida. She is Director of the Department of Anthropology & Genealogy for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. In her book, she states that in 1813, William Powell took his family southward out of Alabama. He and one of his daughters by his first marriage settled in Georgia. Billy Powell (Osceola), his mother (William Powell's second wife), and possibly a second daughter of William Powell's by his first wife went to Florida. In 1836, William Powell and his daughter migrated to the western Indian territories. There is no indication that Osceola ever went to the west. Osceola died on 30 January 1838 at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina at approximate age 34. He probably had a wife and children, but there is no data listed. Your ancestry could come from William Powell, if he took another wife in the west. Mary Esther (Powell) Raker
