Dickey, I think I was in contact with you a while back about the connection between your Powell's and mine. Dewel Lott whose mother was connected to the (she was a Powell) Powell's from Blount has done genealogy for many years and has written several books on his different surnames said, my Powell's and your's (if your's are the Blount county Powell's are cousin's. Dewel started a book on the Powell's and got sick and hasn't completed it. I talked to his wife recently and she is trying to finish the book with his help. Dewel is in his 80's and he lived in that area most of his life and my gr. gr. uncle Tilmon Powell was a Methodist preacher in that area where he was raise too. Dewel's mother always invited him to eat with them when Tilmon preached at their church. She said they were first cousin's. I am sure she would have known who her cousin's were.. Our DNA matches some Hooper's but our written genealogy hasn't confirmed anything other than our Powell lineage for several generations. Frances In a message dated 7/22/2008 9:34:41 A.M.
