Interesting that you should bring up William Penn. In March of 1682, My Thomas Powell (1640) purchased 500 acres in PA from WILLIAM PENN and brought his family to America. It is also noted that in 1692, Thomas Powell had joined in the defection from Friends ( Quakers), influenced by George Keith. In 1692, Keith and 48 of his followers accused the Society of Friends at their Yearly Meeting at Philadelphia with "tax discipline and doctrinal heresy" and were disowned. From 1692 to 1695 the Keithaian Quakers held their meetings at the home of Thomas Powell, with George Keith as their leader.
