I have a transcript of a Deed of Sale from Bertie County, North Carolina, December Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions 1769. -- 891-59 which states: "A Deed of Sale from Thomas MIEARS and Elizabeth his Wife to Cader Powell Junr. was Proved in Due form of Law in open Court by the oath of Demsy (Dempsey?) Powell one of the subscribing Witnesses and on Motion order to be Registered. " I do know that Talitha "Lytha" Cotton married Robert Hobday and after his death she married Dempsey Powell in 1810 in Sumner Co., TN. Dempsey Powell was born in 1747 in Bertie Co., NC and died 1832 in Davidson Co., TN. Dempsey Powell was also previously married and had 8 children. Dempsey's father was Cader Powell, born 1715 and died 1785. So this could be the Cader mentioned in the above deed. Elaine Powell
