    3. Hello Chris, I am kit # 85592. I came across your Powell's years ago when I noticed that a group of them had migrated to Montgomery CO TN about the same time (circa 1810) as my line migrated to Stewart County (The County next to Montgomery)... I thought they were of the same family as mine Anyway, even though they lived only 50+ miles apart, they weren't close kin at all ... and your preliminary DNA results kind of supports that. Another thing that through me off at that period of my research is that a cousin of mine had your Aaron Powell who married Mary Shaw as the father of my direct ancestor James Bonnie Powell. Also, another oddity, is that some of your Powell's left Montgomery Co and went to Gibson Co and some of my Stewart Co Powell's did the same thing ... heck, I was born in Gibson Co. So, to cut this story down a bit, we are not close kin but I am aware of some of your Powell's and I believe there is at least one group member who is a direct descendant of those Montgomery County Powell's. Good luck to You and welcome aboard explorers. 3. It's me! It's Me! So glad to have a fellow descendant in the group. We also match someone else who was on the list, but I haven't heard from him in awhile. Richard Powell. He is descended from Aaron Powell through James also and his kit # is 88445. Mine is 97957. We match 35 out of 37 markers. We are one off on markers # 27 & # 35. Did you test for more than 25 markers? This test substantiates that my Eaton Powell who moved with James Powell and Hampton Powell of Halifax Co. NC were related. I contend that James and Eaton were brothers and Hampton was of course their uncle, brother to their father, Aaron Powell. In the Lucas book, he states there was a youngest son, but he didn't think he reached maturity. But, this son was still living with Mary, Aaron's widow in the 1810 census and a few doors down from Hampton Powell. He fits the age group that my Eaton falls into. Also, Eaton married Holly Adams, d/o Benjamin Adams who was a neighbor of William Powell in the 1790 census there. Benjamin's will of 1811 was witnessed by Eaton and his executor was James Powell. Eaton sold his land to William Powell when they left in 1815 for Montgomery Co. TN. Eaton's first wife, Holly died before 1829. He had 4 children with her, 3 boys and 1 girl. I have definitive proof of two of the boys being William C. Powell (my gg-grandfather), and Benjamin Eaton Powell. These two married Causey girls (cousins) and moved to Fayette Co. IL. I speculate that the girl was Malinda/Balinda Powell (who married Henry Baggett) and the boy was Joseph Thomas Powell (who married Rebecca Blanton). Eaton then married Mary Causey (perhaps an older sister of Nellie Causey who married Benjamin Eaton Powell). They had 8 children: Nancy, Warren, Rosa, Wiley, Robert, William, Susan, Solomon. A few months ago a post was on Genforum that challenges the Lucas book on the parentage of our William Powell who was married to Elizabeth ???. She states that our branch of Powells moved to Isle of Wight Co. VA around 1756 from Gloucester Co. VA and we are not related to those Powells who go back several more generations in Isle of Wight Co. This is also substantiated by the DNA of those in this group that we do not match who are from the Isle of Wight Powells. She said our William was from Gloucester Co. VA and was the son of a John Powell. He had a brother named George Powell and the two of them moved to Isle of Wight Co. after marrying two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary Dobson. I at the moment looking at more records for Gloucester Co. VA and have come across a few interesting things. It could be we are associated with some very early Powells of York Co. who lived near the Paquosin River. I have a cousin who lives near Richmond and has a vacation house in Gloucester Co. She is willing later this year to do some more research for me. The DNA for our family was donated by my nephew. I am the researcher and would welcome hearing from you...........Linda (Powell) Garrett ---- George Powell <[email protected]> wrote: Hello Chris, I am kit # 85592.
