    1. Re: [POWELL-DNA] FTDNA Family Finder - Very Special - Limited Offer
    2. Jim, I would like to do it from the Powell line, kit #132854, Powell Branch VA-17, Eugene D. Powell, [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) I have all lines back 5-7 generations with reasonable certainty. Only thing I'm not sure of is what this is going to tell me. Eugene In a message dated 2/23/2010 8:29:04 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: I received the following message from FTDNA. "As you know from the email we sent last week we have begun a limited rollout of our newest product, the Family Finder. The pre-launch has gone very well and later this week we'll be uploading the first 48 samples that customers ordered last week, during the initial hour of the rollout. We expect to ‘stress test’ the system and deliver results for 1 full plate (96 samples) next week, and 2 plates (192) the following week. Processing will be ramping up to several hundred kits per week. We are now prepared to offer to each of our Group Administrators the opportunity to participate in the 2nd phase of the pre-launch of this exciting new tool. Each Group Admin may select one kit # that He/She would like to order a Family Finder test at the introductory price of $249." I am not going to order a kit for myself so I'm offering one person the the Barrett project and one person in the Powell project the opportunity to place an order. Who that person will be is up to you. If you would like to be the one person from your project to be able to order the kit let me know. My requirements: You must be willing to pay the $249 and I ask that you have most, if not all, of your lines traced back four or five generations as this test will be matching on all of your lines. You MUST be the contact for the kit. I have no idea what will happen to the price for this kit over the next year or two. I would expect this to be a good price if you are interested. This has to be a first come first serve basis. If you are interested send me the kit number, the name of the person who was tested and the contact e-mail address for the kit. My only part in this will be to send you information to FTDNA. As with any order the payment goes to them. They will contact you. If they have an extra sample for you I understand they will use it. If not they send you another kit. I will let the project members know when I have sent FTDNA a kit number, but I won't send that message until tomorrow. 3. Eugene: That's good everything you learn will probably apply to my branch also. I haven't been doing much diging into the Powells lately as I'm involved in a local history group for the part of Jacksonville I live in called Arlington www.oldarlington.org it's a very old part of the US and ties in with ST. Augustine. I would like to do a new booklet for my family on our ancestors in Va maybe this spring.
