My group of Powells came thru Arkansas. I have met the DNA Powells who came through Alabama.
That's a large name in Lebanon TN's history. Might start checking there. Lots of Powell involvement around there. I'm still in shock over it. -----Original Message----- From: powell-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:powell-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Annie Waters Sent: Monday, March 25, 2013 8:33 AM To: powell-dna@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POWELL-DNA] Fw: James Powell b.1798: NJ/Petersburgh, NY I am intrigued to find to find this connection to the Tarvers. Dear Larry, I think I might not have ever replied to this message. No, it is just a Xerox copy that she did herself. Is there particular information I might look up for you? Oh - I don't have the book where I can find it right now or I'd look up the name of your grandmother. Well, I'm tackling the piles of paper right now - and might get to it in a few days. I took these screen shots of the bible just in case anyone is interested. Maybe the Martin connection might give someone a clue as to who this family is. It is being sold by a "rare book" store.
Sheri, RootsWeb does not allow attachments. If did attach something they stripped it off. This is all somewhat confusing!(easy to get me that way). The Bible is on sale on e-bay and lists some of the line: Joshua Powell, father of Nelson Powell 1811-1862 of Nassua NY. Nelson the father of George Winfield Powell 1861-1917 of Nassau NY. I don't see how the Bible would connect to our dna group, so far. Hmm. I thought someone told Tamera the family connected to this was in our line.. Yes it is confusing and I suspect that is why this lonely bible has lost it's family. I am going to try to contact the seller and see what they know. I think it is a dealer or someone that buys estate goods.
