    2. WILLARD WINCHESTER
    3. Jim hear is what I have on the Powell's that I think are some how related to my Lucinda. Thanks,Sherry Was Lucinda tied to the Powell’s? POWELL John Powell and Jennie Powell were cousins Son: Abraham & Jasper Newton Powell, according to a family page in the Morgan Heritage Book these Powell’s came from Carroll Co. Ga... A posting by Margaret Murphy, Abraham is listed in Cherokee Planters & White Among the Cherokee’s. Abraham married Nancy Mulkey. Son: Pleasant married Winford Wood 1830 Census Habersham Co. GA James Powel page 8, Licenda Tate page 34, Abraham Powell, next door to Jane Powell page 43, Richard Powell and Lewis Gaddis page 48, John Tate age 30/40 page 49 1834 Whites among Cherokees Samuel Tate, James Mulkey, Marke Mulkey and Abram Powell Powell’s all next door to each other, Thomas Garrison (Lucinda’s son-in-law father) Philip Mulkey 5 doors apart page 166 Emsley Gaddis next door to Pleasant Powell next door Jane Powell page 168 Mark Mulkey, Abram Powell, Riley Powell, Daniel Powell, Jane Powell, Joshua Powell then 2 doors to Thomas Garrison page 219 1850 Census Abraham and Nancy Mulkey Powell Gilmer Co., Ga on the same page is a John Mulkey 1860 Winston Co. AL Abram and Nancy Powell, 1870 Abraham and Nancy Powell, Morgan Co., Al, 1880 Nancy Powell Morgan Co. AL While the Heritage Book say’s the preceding Powell’s came from Carroll Co. I have not seen a record of that, but the following Powell’s are from Carroll Co. Thomas J. Powell(1855-8/23/1920) (son of Calvin and Permila Smith Powell  married 10-31-1844) married 11-18-1874 Nancy J, Entrekin(1859-?) daughter of Elijah Entrekin (1832-1905) and Elizabeth Shaw(1833-1915), all of these where also from Carroll Co. GA 1850 Carroll Co. GA, 1860 Carroll Co., GA, 1870 Carroll Co., GA, Powell’s and Entrekin’s    1920 Oscar D. Powell (son? Of 1900 Thomas Powell and Nancy Entrekin) married Minnie Pearl Cornelius. A daughter of Peter Cagle named Martha married Garrett Cornelius Cherokee Co. GA          There was an Emsley Powell in Carroll Co. Ga 1860 census. Emsley Gaddis is the only other person I have found with that 1st name. Was the Cora Henderson living with Thomas J & Nancy Entrekin Powell on the 1900 census Lucinda’s GGrandaughter?   Sarah Delilah Tate Garrison had sons Jasper born 1858 and Newton born 1862, William Asberry born 1845, John Thomas born 1849. The Jasper and Newton probably came from Jasper Newton Powell. There is an Asberry Wilemon in the household of a younger Abraham Powell (maybe Pleasant’s son ) 1870 Winston Co. census. The Powell’s and Garrison’s apparently  had a relationship. Not sure how Calvin Powell and Abraham Powell are related. Calvin was the father of Thomas Powell who is in 1900 Morgan; Al census had Cora Henderson in his household. I believe Cora to be the granddaughter of Susan Tate Johnson. Susan and Sarah were sisters. There was a brother William K. who is on the 1836 school records listed next to a John T Tate, possibility a second brother. William King Tate had a son name Mulkey. Which has got to be for the Mulkey’s but in what way?  William is living in the household with his brother-in-law James C. Garrison (son of Thomas) on the 1850 Marshall Co. Al census. Thomas Garrison and William’s stepfather (Emsley Gaddis) are both past neighbors of the Mulkeys. I believe William must have also known them to have named a son named after them.   It is also possible the name came from Abraham Tate brother of Asa # 2(wife Susan McEntire)  of Gordon, GA husband of Eleana Cannon. He had sons Jasper born 1842 and Newton born 1844. Clue: Powell’ came from north GA and neighbors of the Garrison’s, and Gaddis’s, but do not know how this is related/tied back to Lucinda.                                1820 US Federal Census  Habersham   GA  Moses Mulky page 5 of 7   1830 GA Thomas Garrison page 93 of 98   Habersham James Powell                           page 8 Licenda Tate                            page 34 Abraham Powell                     page 43 next door to Jane Powell                             page 43 Richard Powell                        page 48 Lewis Gaddis                           page 48             Whites among the Cherokees             Georgia 18-28-1838          Written by the Participants.          Collected and Edited by          Mary B. 3. "Cader" is a not uncommon Welsh name (appropriate for Powells, eh?). It means "Seat", as in the place of origin or the central spot. Note that in Welsh a "C" is always pronounced hard, so "Kader" is the same name. I've also seen the "e" replaced by an "a" in both variants. 1. [POWELL-DNA] William and Amy Powell before 1716 St. Paul's Parish, Stafford Co VA/Still Have Problems with Rootsweb.com and Jim's flash.net e-mail address
    2. Vivian Cates
    3. Jim Barrett and Powell Researchers, My Powell line dates before 1716 in St. Paul's Parish, Stafford County, Virginia. Need origins of this William Powell and his wife, Amy/Amey _?_ before 1716. From Published parish register "D. William Powell, son of William and Amy Powell, October 30, 1716." Since the dates in the register begin in 1715, this is among the earliest dates recorded in the parish register. My line comes from a surviving daughter. Relatively high infant mortality rate in those days as the births and deaths of several of their children are recorded. My line migrated south to Halifax County, Virginia, and then to Georgia. Though it does not show up here when I clicked on reply, I see from the original posting that Jim is still using his flash.net address and it should be "good" with no bounces??? I have been getting "undeliverable" when I replied to Jim's message last week using this flash.net address. I clicked on reply and it is in my address book, so no typos, etc. I am still having e-mail problems, especially from rootsweb.com, of some unknown origin that the system administrator at netdot.net/Omini in Nacogdoches, Texas, has not been able to solve. I have had this problem in the past and somehow it got corrected. However that system administrator is no longer with that company. On Thursday my ISP set me up another e-mail address on another server they have with a different domain address. I have been successful in subscribing to a few e-mail lists from this address where I am "finger acquainted" with people who are actively looking out for their lists. Hopefully this change will be of short duration because changing e-mail addresses after so many years is really a pain!!! Otherwise, except for rootsweb.com e-mail lists subscriptions, my e-mail seems to be working except for a few minor clichés like Jim's e-mail "bouncing" when I know it should be a "good" address. My children changed to comcast.net for e-mail and for a time those were bouncing as well. I am open to ideas out there. Still don't know what the problems are or where they are between @myinu.net and rootsweb.com. I have gotten no answers when I e-mailed for a list of my list subscriptions. The only answers I have gotten under the Help section off the rootsweb.com was to check my spam/junk mail box even after I said in my message that the Sys adm said no rootsweb.com messages were getting to their server. I have had subscriptions to 40-50 lists from two @myinu.net e-mail addresses and "normally" I would have been getting anywhere from 15-25 messages per day. This is just so frustrating!!! A really big mess!!!
