Emsley Gaddis is the only other person I have found with that 1st name. Was the Cora Henderson living with Thomas J & Nancy Entrekin Powell on the 1900 census Lucinda’s GGrandaughter?   Sarah Delilah Tate Garrison had sons Jasper born 1858 and Newton born 1862, William Asberry born 1845, John Thomas born 1849. The Jasper and Newton probably came from Jasper Newton Powell. There is an Asberry Wilemon in the household of a younger Abraham Powell (maybe Pleasant’s son ) 1870 Winston Co. census. The Powell’s and Garrison’s apparently  had a relationship. Not sure how Calvin Powell and Abraham Powell are related. Calvin was the father of Thomas Powell who is in 1900 Morgan; Al census had Cora Henderson in his household. I believe Cora to be the granddaughter of Susan Tate Johnson. Susan and Sarah were sisters. There was a brother William K. who is on the 1836 school records listed next to a John T Tate, possibility a second brother. William King Tate had a son name Mulkey. Which has got to be for the Mulkey’s but in what way?  William is living in the household with his brother-in-law James C. Garrison (son of Thomas) on the 1850 Marshall Co. Al census. Thomas Garrison and William’s stepfather (Emsley Gaddis) are both past neighbors of the Mulkeys. I believe William must have also known them to have named a son named after them.   It is also possible the name came from Abraham Tate brother of Asa # 2(wife Susan McEntire)  of Gordon, GA husband of Eleana Cannon. He had sons Jasper born 1842 and Newton born 1844. "Cader" is a not uncommon Welsh name (appropriate for Powells, eh?). It means "Seat", as in the place of origin or the central spot. Note that in Welsh a "C" is always pronounced hard, so "Kader" is the same name. I've also seen the "e" replaced by an "a" in both variants. Markers 38 - 67 have been added to kit 274757.   Kit 271057, with markers 271057 has been added.  Haplogroup T1.  With the addition of this kit I learned that FTDNA is now including all three peaks for DYS385.  Of course I have been reporting it for several years.  I did send them a message asking when they would be showing the third peak for our older kits.  With them reporting the third peak for this kit and not for the other that do have it he is automatically one step off from other in FTDNA's reporting. Jim Barrett and Powell Researchers, My Powell line dates before 1716 in St. Paul's Parish, Stafford County, Virginia. Need origins of this William Powell and his wife, Amy/Amey _?_ before 1716. From Published parish register "D. William Powell, son of William and Amy Powell, October 30, 1716." Since the dates in the register begin in 1715, this is among the earliest dates recorded in the parish register. My line comes from a surviving daughter. Relatively high infant mortality rate in those days as the births and deaths of several of their children are recorded. My line migrated south to Halifax County, Virginia, and then to Georgia. Though it does not show up here when I clicked on reply, I see from the original posting that Jim is still using his flash.net address and it should be "good" with no bounces??? I have been getting "undeliverable" when I replied to Jim's message last week using this flash.net address. I clicked on reply and it is in my address book, so no typos, etc. I am still having e-mail problems, especially from rootsweb.com, of some unknown origin that the system administrator at netdot.net/Omini in Nacogdoches, Texas, has not been able to solve.
