As a result, the size of our database is unmatched and has achieved critical mass, even allowing adoptees or descendants of adoptees to find their biological paternal lines, including the surname of the original family. In fact, more that 30% of the people who have come to us in search of their original paternal line have already succeeded in their endeavor. Note that genetic matches allow people to find their biological lines rather than a specific individual. We have made tremendous progress, but we feel that we can do more. If you have tested 12 or 25 markers, an upgrade to 37 or more markers could provide the relevant match that someone has been waiting for. It may also give you the match that you have been waiting for. Family Tree DNA wants to help and be part of this effort. We have decided that from June 20th to June 30th, we will reduce all our Y-DNA upgrade prices, and on average the reduced prices will be about 25% lower than the standard upgrade price. There is no need to contact our staff to receive this upgrade pricing. Our prices will be adjusted in the system accordingly. As always, we appreciate your continued support. 3. Hi Jim, Thank you!! Being totally frustrated with my local library not being able to access several genealogy books I was interested in, I had gone to the reportedly best one in our county with about the same result. NOT ONE book on Pickens Co., SC, . Dyer Co., TN, Lauderdale Co., TN, Montgomery Co, KS, NE OK, Gallatin Co., MT,one book on Jackson Co., AL, that is a history of the area after the time I needed. They seemed to have more to offer on the New England states, south west and Mexico. I used your site and learned for one of my main choice's the closest location of the book was in Denver, CO., according to the computer 876 miles from my zip code. But my daughter lives nearby in Parker, CO., so next visit I will have an opportunity to check it out. Thanks Again, ~Diane

    3. Rebba, If you a looking for a library that has the George Travis Powell book I suggest you go to http://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch . Put the following words in the keyword field: Thomas Powell John Harman. Put Powell in the author field. Using the libraries search I found 55 locations with the book. I suggest you don't try to search using the title. Using the above search information I found the following titles: 1) The Virginians Thomas Powell & John Hardman and their descendants 1616-1985 2) Thomas Powell, colonial-yeoman-planter, circa 1616-1687, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and John Hardman, colonial-planter, circa 1725-1800 : progenitors with thousands of their descendants arranged in chronological order to 1985. 3) Thomas Powell, colonial-yeoman-planter : circa 1616-1687, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and John Hardman, colonial-planter, circa 1725-1800 : progenitors with thousands of their descendants arranged in chronological order to 1985. Concerning the first 35 pages of Vol. 1, there is a discussion about Capt. Nathaniel Powell and several typo type corrections. I have saved the addendum as a PDF file. Would you like a copy of the whole file or just the first two pages? 1. Re: [POWELL-DNA] John, Lewis, Wiley Powell/AL, TX
    2. Pam and Carlette, You might contact by email the DRT Library...a different web site, I believe...and they will send you a list of 'researchers'. They, of course, won't recommend one, but they do have a list of people who live close to the library and who will go in and do the 'footwork' for you. At the price of gasoline, it's worth every penny! The msn website was mine, but not enough people were accessing it, so they took it down (it was free). I still have more things to scan. I contacted the drt last year, and they forwarded my email, but no one has ever responded. I just sent another request. Maybe if you send one too, the prospect of TWO new cousins might make the person get more excited! For all the other Powells on this list, keep looking out for us to find a male descendant! Thanks for your help.
