    1. Re: [POWELL-DNA] Three Centuries of Ballingers in America
    2. Lois Powell
    3. You mentioned Ambrose Powell. I don't have any genealogy on Ambrose Powell, and you probably know his connection with Powell Valley, Virginia, but this is what I found. Ambrose Powell was a member of Dr. Thomas Walker's expedition that went through Powell Valley. On April 12, 1750 Ambrose cut his name on a tree on the bank of a river located ten miles from Cumberland Gap. In 1770 the tree was found by a party of 15 to 20 Virginians on their way to Kentucky on a hunting expedition. They gave it the name of Powell's river, and the other names came from that. (Advanced panels, FGS and Deep Clade Y SNP's)   Please forgive us if in the next few days we don't meet our standard level of customer service as to e-mails and phone calls.  We will be back to normal as soon as possible.  We appreciate your continued support .   E-mail us anytime!   Bennett Greenspan Max Blankfeld President Vice-President, Operations and Marketing                                           http://www.FamilyTreeDNA.com "History Unearthed Daily" 713-868-1438

We lost power about noon Saturday and phone service about noon on Sunday. I went to Fort Worth yesterday morning to pick up a generator I bought last week. Jan called me about noon to let me know our power was back on. Our phone service was restored during the night We had no damage to the house. We lost one small tree that was already in bad shape. We lost about half a dozen limbs out of two big pine trees and our fall pepper and tomato pants were destroyed. A VERY small loss compared to many. A large tree did fall on my in-laws grave but didn't hurt the marker but did beat up the fence behind it. We cleaned most of it up Sunday afternoon. I'll work through my e-mail during the next few days. Thanks to all for your good wishes and prayers. I hope everyone else did as well but I sure those closer to the coast were hit much harder. 3. Depending on your Haplotype FTDNA will predict your Haplogroup.  Once that has been done you will be offered the opportunity to take SNP tests.  They use their prediction to tell them where to start testing.  Depending on the number of levels below your predicted Haplogroup they'll offer a "Backbone" test or a "Deep Clade" test.   If you look at http://www.isogg.org/tree/ISOGG_HapgrpR08.html you'll see how complex the R1b portion of the Y-DNA Haplogroup Tree 2008 is.   Now to answer the question: kit 36906 had a Backbone SNP test and kits 8586 and 84479 had Deep Clade SNP test.  Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX Barrett Surname DNA - http://www.flash.net/~parino/barrett-family-dna-project.htm   Powell Surname DNA - http://www.flash.net/~parino/powell-surname-dna-project.htm --- On Wed, 8/27/08, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [POWELL-DNA] Our Website To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 6:24 PM What difference is there between Kit 36906 with a haplogroup of R1b1 and Kits 84479 and 8586 with haplogroup of R1b1b2 ?
