    3. Jim, I'm slowly learning how this DNA project works, so my apologies to the group for this basic question. What does it mean that markers have been added to a kit? Is it that someone has matched their family members to that person's family tree? Thanks for your work on this project! 3. Elaine,   One of the best ways to learn is to ask questions.   When the order for kit 249237 was placed it was for 37 markers.  The tests at FTDNA are run in panels.  USUALLY they will report markers 1-12, followed by 13-25, followed by 26-37 for a 37 marker test.   As the results are determined FTDNA send the kit holder and the project admin a message letting us know the results have been added to the myFTDNA website for the kit.  As the admin I'm able to view that information.  I copy it and then added it to our website.  Once I have update the website I post a message to this list.   Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX Powell Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm --- On Fri, 8/24/12, Elaine <epowell@earthlink.net> wrote: From: Elaine <epowell@earthlink.net> Subject: Re: [POWELL-DNA] Our Website To: "powell-dna@rootsweb.com" <powell-dna@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, August 24, 2012, 8:32 AM Jim, I'm slowly learning how this DNA project works, so my apologies to the group for this basic question. 3. Hi Jim , this kit is from Eli Powell line who I have long believed was son of Edmond Powell in Smith Co. Tn. He would be Edmonds eldest son. I believe this marker change at this time as I strongly believe that Edmond was brother to Charles M. Powell who also was in Smith Co., Tn and Levi Powell who settled in Todd Co., Ky and a few others. I strongly believe that Charles M, Edmond and Levi were sons of George Powell Sr who settled also in Todd Co., Ky and came out of Chatham NC area. Now the McClelland line that was in Ga I can't figure out unless this line also was not from as far back as they are thinking. I guess that will be my next challenge. Eli Powell and my husbands 3ggrandfather George were brothers. 1. [POWELL-DNA] Dave's line - 100829

    3. Finally got a clue on Dave's line. Hooked up with cousins, removed. Turns out, he is a descendant of Col. John Powell and Lois Curtis (he was in the Rev War), and then his line goes back to Robert Powell of England. It's only taken 36 or so years. 3. Hello Peggy, What Haplogroup are you in? Pat Powell, Springer springerpc@msn.com ----- Original Message ----- From: P.C. Powell<mailto:peggypowell@sierrapapa.net> To: powell-dna@rootsweb.com<mailto:powell-dna@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 13, 2012 3:59 PM Subject: [POWELL-DNA] Missouri Powells Hello all. Have recently returned from a brief trip to Cedar County, Missouri where I made copies of land and probate records of Green L. Powell and his father, Green D. Powell. The heirs of Green D. Powell (1806-1860) were listed in 1866 as: Jane, Sarah Maracle (widow), George, Green L., Elizabeth, Rebecca Caplinger, and James H. (James is stated as being in CA). In further proceedings in 1869 the heirs are: Jane Workman, Sarah Underhill, George W., Green L., Elizabeth Workman, Rebecca Rector (?) granddaughter, and James H. Powell who is still in CA. Hope this helps someone. If you want copies of what I have, send me an email. I may be slow, but I'll get it done. -peggy >________________________________ > From: Jim Barrett <parino@flash.net<mailto:parino@flash.net>> >To: POWELL-DNA-L <POWELL-DNA-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:POWELL-DNA-L@rootsweb.com>> >Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2012 1:52 PM >Subject: [POWELL-DNA] Our Website > >Markers 26 - 67 have been added to kit 241643. >Markers 26 - 37 have been added to kit 230965. > >Please note that kit 241643 has a value for DYS607. This makes the checking for matches very hard. FTDNA report no matches at 37 markers, but if you look at >http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Powell/default.aspx?section=ycolorized you'll see he has several exact matches except for DYS607. When FTDNA calculates the genetic distance they report his best match, in a report you can't see, as a genetic distance of 15, because 15 (the value others near him have) - 0 is 15. We (project admins) have been told FTDNA was going to change this, but it hasn't happened yet. Also, based on our website before this update kit 210036 was also showing a null for DYS607 but when I checked for matches I found his value to be 15. I don't know what happened, when it happened or why it happened. Searching the archives for this list I announced the null for 210036 on 11/21/11. > >Jim Barrett - Timpson, TX >Powell Surname DNA Project http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm<http://jpbdna.com/powell-surname-dna-project.htm> > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com<mailto:POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com> with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com<mailto:POWELL-DNA-request@rootsweb.com> with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
