I am writing about My Powell's. I have a Edward (Edd) Layfayette Powell born Jan 30 1866 in Franklin, NC. married to Harriett *(Hattie) Vanlandingham Riggan born Nov 15, 1869 Vance Co. NC (both buried New Hope Cemetery in NC) -3 children: (not in order) Thomas Jackson Powell born May 17, 1898 Wise Co. NC (my great grandfather married to Lula Bettie Allen of Norlina, NC) Mary Powell married ?? Watkins of NC Charlie ? Powell married Lola Lovett of GA Hopefully someone will recognize a name although it seems as though the tree branches do not branch out too much! Not one listing in the Powells of VA and the south. Would love to hear from anyone that even extends: Watkins, Riggan/Regan, Powel, Powell, Lovett, Tyson, Allen, Rose Thank you! Katie It's not much of a connection but I have Anne Jackson Powell Powell b. April 1882 in Albemarle Co., Va. and her son Lafayette Powell b. Sept. 13, 1913. My Powells used the same names for generations. The names Jacksona nd Lafayette appear for the first time in these generations. I have assumed Anne was named Jackson because her father Gilbert Powell was in Pickett's charge. I am sure there's a connection for the name Lafayette but have yet to find it. ==== POWELL Mailing List ==== If you wish to unsubscribe from the Powell surname list, send only the word UNSUBSCRIBE to Powell-l-request@rootsweb.com or if you are on the digest list to Powell-d-request if you are on the digest list. ============================== Search the US Census Collection.
