Wm Cole is my GGrandfather. 3) JOHN POWELL (aka Surgeon/Doctor) b.abt 1750 in James City Co.d.? Have a deed for John and mother Lucy selling land in York Co where he is referred to as Surgeon; He received a portion of his step-brother's estate in a 1798 suit and was listed as Dr. John (York wills 23 p. 502) his brother Dr. Thomas and sister Lucy Roberts also received portions; Have some ads that indicate he had an Apothecary shop in Richmond; but know little more about him. His step brother was Benjamin Moss (s/o Benj. Moss d. 1737 York and first husband of Lucy. Their other and oldest son was William Moss). No evidence found that he served in the Rev. War. He is somewhat of a mystery. So with all that I had only a few Johns. Anybody researching those lines, would love to correspond. Mary Jean M. Zimmerman
