    3. Bubba- James R. Powell who was married to Elizabeth Lemons was the son of William H. Powell. William H. was a brother to my gr-gr grandfather, James Powell, jr. If that is the case, then we are certaily kin. Their parents were James Powell, sr and Mazdy Murphree Powell. James and Mazdy were both raised in Pendleton Co SC, James being born @1787 in NC. I have not found who his father was, probably one of the Powells in 1800 Pendleton. James Powell who married Rebecca Bynum was probably of some kin, an uncle? James and Mazdy were married in Pendleton in 1807, went shortly thereafter to Rhea Co, TN, then to Blount co AL in @1832-33(lived in area that became Cullman in 1877). James died in Blount in 1870, and may be buried in Roswell Creek Cem in unmarked grave. William H. also believed to be buried there. I do have a word document if any one is interested in my James Powell. I have a listing of William H.(married Nancy Jane Latham) children and their families(including James R.), but there are gaps that need to be filled in. My James Powell, sr had no son named John, but James Powell, jr had son, John L. My grandfather also named John. I would be happy to share in research on the Powells of Pendleton SC, Rhea TN, and Blount AL. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bubba" <dw01tx@yahoo.com> To: <POWELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 11:34 AM Subject: Re: [POWELL] John Powell, Sr., and Jr. > Is the son James R.? I have a James ancestor, too, but he is buried at Roswell Creek Baptist Cemetery in Blount County. I think there were at least two independent Powell lines in Blount County. There was a George Powell, who was quite prominent as a surveyor, I think. > > Jane Foley <mjfent@bellsouth.net> wrote:Looking for info on John Powell, Sr. born supposedly in Chatham Co., NC or VA married to Mary Cromwell in about 1739.
