    3. My gggrandfather was Elisha Smith Powell who in 1845 came from McNairy County, Tn (near Purdy), to Texas. He was a Methodist minister. He was born 1793 in NC. Parents and siblings unknown. Wife named Rosse Murry, dau of William and Rachel Anderson Murry who came to McNairy County via Lincoln County Tn and prior to that from Buncombe County, NC. Any connections here? Hezekiah's brother William R. Powell was also in that area, and he had a son named Hezekiah who was born in 1850. My records don't show descendants of this younger Hezekiah, but I bet this is your family. I have a good bit of "Powell in Texas" information, and I'll help if I can. 3. I've looked at the records on Elisha Powell a lot of times, hoping to find the connection that I'm sure exists. One of the Hezekiahs that lived in Texas also had the middle name Smith. What information do you have? I'd like to work with you.
