    3. Hi Mary, Will give you a heads up on the Ambrose Powells in Kentucky. There are several that came through Kentucky and settled in Tennessee, Maury Co., Lawrence Co., & Giles County. The one in Maury County, came from either Kentucky or North Carolina, and is not related by DNA to the Ambrose Powell in Lawrence Co. and Giles County Tennessee. Just wanted to let you know that these 2 or 3 Ambrose Powells cannot be related as of DNA results, because of different Haplogroups. 3. Dear Mary-Gene, Know we are all going through a lot with the DNA system, and names can get confusing, but the Ambrose Powell in Giles Co. & Lawrence Co. Tennessee, is the son of my Lewis R. Powell. He also had another son that moved to the same location and that was Lewis R. Powell Jr.. Why they moved there between 1850 and 1860 from Walker Co. Ga., I do not know. I think the Ambrose Powell from Maury Co. Tennessee, might be from North Carolina, Ga. and then moved to Maury County, Tennessee. I think they are R1b1's in the DNA System. Just know they have a different Haplogroup than our "T" Haplogroup. There are so many Powell families in Kentucky at the same time, and I just cannot understand why they could not be related, but the DNA proves that they cannot be connected. So glad to hear from you, and hope you find your connection, we are all still looking. Take care. I was not aware of the Ambroses in Lawrence and Giles counties. I haven't searched in other counties unless I see something about a particular individual. You and I have corresponded several times, although, if I remember correctly, we are not from the same line. I'm enjoying myself just plugging away at mine.
