I am also very new to this, but eager to learn. If I have any info that I can share, I would enjoy contributing to you and I hope you would do the same. In essence, I hope that I haven't offended you as you seem to be much deeper into the genealogy than I at the moment. When I get word from Durward, I will email you with his response. Thank you for the tip on searching the old postings. Katie: Well I think I understand where you are and have been in the research. You mentioned you are new to this...well we all were beginners at one time or another so enjoy the hunt, and no apologies are necessary. You did not offend me at all. I would be interested in the theories each of your contacts seem to have and hope that you will share them with all of us. We all I think are looking for information or documentation to support either our theories or find some theories. There have been lots of printed theories on the Powells but the ones to really look at are those that produce some evidence for the theory. Those ideas that "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it must be a duck" doesn't always seem to work that way in genealogy. I am not that up to speed I guess, as I am not so sure what ISO means. Do read the pages in that Powell book by Rev. Lucas on Mary Turkey and later Thomas Powell mainly because it offers some records to review, some abstractions of deeds etc. and unfortunately some rather large contradictions. It may confuse you a bit but eventually it will get a bit clearer. Finally, Do post the direct line that you are looking for as I may have confused your request by my questions. Was it Edwin Powell b. 1780 who married an Elizabeth York b. 1780 and who married in Franklin Co. NC in 1799? If that was the case abt when do you think the father of Edwin was born? Do you have a bible record or a marriage bond for that marriage in Franklin Co. NC? MJZ
