Looking for any information on the following families. 1860 Cape Girardeau Co., Shawnee Twp., p.464 Dwelling 2463 James POWEL 36 Farmer TN [probably William Powell's brother] Emeline " 21 TN Robt. E. " 1 ? Dwelling 2464 Wm. POWEL 30 Farmer TN Mary " 36 TN Emerintha " 8 TN John " 4 ? Mary " 1 ? I believe that William and James were brothers. William probably married in TN, a Mary Jane (?Corbin) ca 1850-52. Ken

There was a William Lytle POWELL md Mary M. (maiden name Powell?) in 1825. His parents were Elias Powell and Elizabeth DAY. I have notes that in an 1840 census (don't have which one) he had 3 daughters; in an 1850 census he was in Marengo Co, AL and there was also a Mary A. MOORE living there (the Mary M. above?). This is not my direct line but I have more information somewhere if this is who you are looking for. However, this William did not have a brother James. Hi Mary-Gene, Thanks for the response. This doesn't sound like the same William Powell I'm tracing. Mine would have been in TN in 1850 and resided in MO until his death.
