From Robeson County came a James Powell (1780-1849) to Georgia. His wife was Celia HILLIARD who was born in Cumberland or Wayne County NC. ALthough never confirmed it is believed that James Powell's father was a Charles Powell who also moved to Georgia about 1800 and died there soon after. It is possible there was another Powell-Hilliard marriage ... but also possible that Benjamin Hilliard Powell is a g/son of Charles Powell of NC Cumberland, Fayetteville. Check the Hilliard families in Robeson and also the "Major Hilliard" families. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
