This is an admirable undertaking from Mr. Charles Smith Powell. Wish he would include his sources for all the statements...for example: There was a Thomas Powell in Virginia in 1660. His son, Seymore Powell, was there in 1694. Thomas Powell (son of Seymore Powell), was there in 1735, and Seymore Powell, son of the above Thomas Powell, was there in 1776. I for one would like to know the records used to make the above statements or the proof in records . The last statement regarding this Thomas Powell with son Seymore Powell who was "there in 1776" is debatable. ( Meaning what is the proof that the Seymore Powell there in 1776 was the son of the Thomas Powell there in 1735, and where in Virgina were they?) Perhaps more pages of the book would reveal these sources or a bibliography. Even with some reserve...it is still great to be able to find something other than just Virginia Powells mentioned on the net. Need to find those records tho.... and need sources to back up the statements. MJ
