My great grandfather's sister, Wilmoth Wade, born 1795 in N.C , married William Powell born 1794 in Va.. They were married about 1824 and raised their family in Va. & Miss. Who knows, though, your William may be a cousin. Around the dates you mentioned, 1775-85, the male Powells I have are David, Jeptha, Jehu, Jacob, Esau, Josiah, James and Benjamin - all born in PA.
