    3. I, too, have the Cotton name in my Powell lineage. Alexander Spotswood Cotton Powell was born in Georgia in 1807, son of Alexander and Dorcas DeBerry Powell. Alexander and Dorcas were born in Hertford Co., NC and Hampton Co,NC, respectively. Alexander's mother was Alse Cotton.
