I have been reading the NC Powell exchanges with interest. I am looking for the parents of McNeal/McNeil Powell. On his enlistment papers for the Union Army he states he is 45 (b. 1819) b. Chatham Co NC. The 1860 census lists him as age 50 (1810), b. TN. The 1850 census lists him as age 51 (1799), b. TN. His is an unusual name and if anyone has come across him, I sure would appreciate hearing about it. I first find him in 1834 in Shelby Co TN. Children are John G, Eliza, William Jackson, Sarah, Benjamin, James Henry, Thomas Alexander, Phil, and Hulbert Brown Powell.
