After going over the census at ancestry.com, the evidence suggests that Thomas Peter Powell, born January 1831, was the son of James Powell and Lucinda Ashmore of Marion county, GA. Sarah Frances Swain was his wife and the marriage was recorded in Marion in 1852. Has anyone done further research on James Powell of Marion county? I cannot find a recorded gravesite for him in Marion county. Also, one other researcher who contacted me stated that his ancestor a sister to one of mine was of native american descent. I don't find any evidence of that unless there is something prior to the 1840's. Please let me know if you are working on this family. Cathy Mayfield
