I descend from POWELLs who lived in (West) Virginia -- Hampshire/Hardy County. Joseph POWELL (c 1730-1771) and Christina/Christen FRY (1733-aft1770). They had a large family, many of them went to Ohio by 1815 or thereabouts -- i.e., at least the ones I've traced. They seem to have many intermarriages with persons of Dutch (Holland, i.e.) descent. Also, close connections with some of the Moravians. The FRYs appear to be in both camps.
